This is a glorious scene of autumn foliage blanketing the Lafayette valley of the Franconia Notch. I was at the top of Bald Mountain just before sundown. The backside of Artist’s Bluff stretches out before me leading up to rock ledges called Eagle Cliffs. Climbing higher, notice the sun lighting up the peaks of the Franconia Ridge. This is Mt Lafayette, a peak reaching 5,260 ft then moving to the right is Mt Lincoln reaching 5,089 ft. Moving right again is Little Haystack at 4,780 ft, then Mt Liberty at 4,459 ft and the last peak on the right is Mt Flume topping at 4,328 ft. Travel back along the ridge and pass Mt Lafayette all the way to left, is a 4,500 ft peak called Mt Garfield.
